- Retiring early
We gave Craig the confidence to retire at just 57, three years earlier than he’s originally planned. Here’s his story:
Craig wanted to retire early at age 60, but didn’t know if this was possible.
He’d worked as an IT Manager for 30 years. Over those years Craig had saved hard into various pensions but still didn’t know whether he’d got enough make his dream of early retirement a reality.
Craig approached us for advice when he was 57 years old. Put simply, he needed our help to understand whether he’d got enough money to retire early.
Paul took time to understand Craig’s retirement goals and the income he would need to achieve them. He then reviewed his existing pensions and developed a strategy by modelling several scenarios comparing early retirement with continuing to work.
The strategy Paul recommended has enabled Craig to retire, not at 60 as planned, but three years earlier at just 57 years old.
Paul’s strategic and analytical approach gave Craig the confidence to leave work at 57 and start the next phase of his life. Since then Craig has upgraded his house and is happy to be away from the long stressful hours he was putting into his job.
Reflecting on our advice, Craig said: "Paul always provides multiple options when giving advice. He treats the money like it’s his own and will always be honest about what to do, where to invest and how."
